Vincent Bolloré is one stubborn bastard…
April 10, 2008
Vince is once again up to his old tricks — trying for the FIFTH time to get two of his cronies on the Aegis board.
Vinny, who is the chairman of communications group Havas (a rival of Aegis which owns BDAs like Euro RSCG & Arnold Worldwide), owns 29.9 per cent stake in Aegis.
Aegis, the media buying and market research group which owns Carat and Vizeum, has announced it is in receipt of a notice of requisition sent on behalf of Bolloré Group today to place Havas executives Philippe Germond and Roger Hatchuel on the Aegis board.
He is expected to be rejected by shareholders like a dwarf running through the lane trying to dunk on LeBron James — mainly because Aegis made a 18+% gain in profits last quarter — and shareholders probably expect Vinny to fuck that shit up like he has with the Havas agencies he oversees.
More than 50 per cent of shareholders have previously rallied against Bolloré’s bids, the last of which was made in May 2007.
Still money to be made…
March 19, 2008
“Aegis Group has posted record results for the year ended 31 December 2007, with pre tax profits up 14.2 per cent to £132.7 million (about $270M USD) as reported this morning.Total revenue for the group, which owns media agencies Carat and Vizeum, was up 11 per cent to £1,106.4 million (just over $2.2 billion USD.)
Its share price rose 3.4 per cent this morning following the results and comes as the group continues to ward off takeover attempts by its 29.9 per cent shareholder and chairman of rival group Havas, Vincent Bollore. He has so far failed four times to get two of his candidates onto the Aegis board.”
Seems Vince is going to keep having a rough time getting his cronies on the board if they keep kicking ass at this rate.
