Where In The World Is Wayne Best?
April 21, 2008
A very strange tipster asked us if we knew if Wayne Best was still the ECD over at Taxi New York. I’ll be honest. I don’t spend a lot of time thinking about Taxi. They’re just kind of there, in the mix, but not on the top of the radar. So, we had to investigate.
If you try sending Best an email this is what you get:
“Begin forwarded message:
From: “Wayne Best”
Date: April 21, 2008 4:04:35 PM EDT
To:
Subject: Re: questionThank-you for contacting TAXI Inc.
Wayne Best is no longer with the company. Please contact Samantha Lew for any of your Creative needs at xxxxxxx@taxi-nyc.comIf you are in need of further assistance please call xxx xxxx and our receptionist will be happy to direct your call.”
Wayne is also no longer listed on the agency’s website, but is listed on LinkedIn as still being with the shop. In March, Adweek was quoting him so, where in the world is Wayne? We contacted the New York office to get a clue. In the mean time, your guess is as good as ours.

Wayne is a good guy, he will land on his feet somewhere.
Taxi has problems and have made it hard for ECD’s to be successful. It’s just not a creatively driven agency at the moment.

When will shops get it? This attitude of cutting all contact with and mention of someone that high up the food chain (or anyone for that matter) can’t be good Karma. It is a small universe afterall.

I’m sorry to hear wayne is gone. he is awesome (and I write this as someone who met him, tried to get a job there and got didn’t get it. such is life).

Many others (including 3 other creatives) at Taxi also “disappeared” last week. Good people who did good work. And had their computers taken away from them before they could retrieve personal files. The way this situation was handled makes you question this agency and how they do business.

Wayne gave me a shot early in my career and now 12 years later and I’m in a position to give kids just like me a shot.
I wish him nothing but the best.

Seriously, does anybody really give a shit where Wayne Best is?
What’s he done since he got off Ian Reichenthals’ coat tails?

“What’s he done since he got off Ian Reichenthals’ coat tails?”
That’s an idiot comment. He kicked ass at Fallon NY with all of the great Virgin Mobile work. He’s great to work for and a great dude. Hopefully he’ll land somewhere where a hacky creative with his own agency doesn’t screw up good work.

I was waiting for someone to say something completely dickish. Well played, you have re-affirmed my faith in this “log”.

Let’s hope he does land somewhere so Name (required) and YESS!! might have a slight chance of fetching lattes for him.
Now go stick your heads back in Archive.

Hey Paul, you’re a jerk-off.

Wayne is a great guy to work for/with and I would work with him again in a heartbeat. Taxi is good at recruiting talented people but not so good at keeping them. As far as the computer comment listed above the “Mother” office is quite draconian in their management of affairs and is one of the main bummers about working there.

Wayne’s super solid. Taxi NYC has never been good, may never be; CD aside.

On behalf of the real Paul Lavoie, the previous entries were neither his words nor his sentiments.

Wayne is a great guy and a great talent. Worked with him at Fallon NY and Taxi for a short while last year.
I didn’t realize he left there until I came across this post. Anyone have any other info on where he went?

I’ve heard Wayne is doing a freelance gig at JWT.
