Three agencies are pumped up to compete as finalists in a review of creative advertising duties on Gold’s Gym.
The shops: Publicis Groupe’s Publicis & Hal Riney in San Francisco, Omnicom Group’s Zimmerman in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and Havas’ McKinney in Durham, N.C. are juiced up for the account worth about $15 million a year. Final presentations are to take place sometime in May.
The winning creative agency will succeed independent Riester in Phoenix, which has handled the ad account for about three years.
Gold’s, a division of TRT Holdings, operates more than 620 gyms in 30 countries, including 520 in the U.S alone. The company is based in Dallas.

what? cliff freeman is not pitching that account?
okay, this may be a total insider, so I’ll explain: someone I worked with had freelanced at that shop once and he told me that the boys there (apparently it’s a REAL boys club) all went to work out during lunchtime together and asked him to come along. he declined and wasn’t asked to come back. he wasn’t too bitter about it, mainly because he did get a great gig after it, but every now and then he kept on chuckling about how aggressive and ripped they all were.
anyone wanna chime in? I always wondered if there was anything to that story. the guy is usually dependable.

Have no idea what that last post was supposed to mean…anyway my prediction is Zimmerman will win this thing…why are they in it to begin with?? That agency’s work totally blows, there has to be some rich guy connection between Gold’s and Zimerman. That agency has no business being mentioned in the same breath as MS and HRP.

Zimmerman’s recently been purchasing the souls of some really talented folks who were looking to cash out. If they actually let them do good work, zimmerman could start to rise above the creative gutter. And Gold’s Gym may just be looking for some mediocre yes-men to contrast with the other two solid shops in this pitch.

Zimmerman is in it to win it. Those guys have been killing and grilling it since 2K6, when they picked up the Penske account. Good for them.

The clients from Gold might want to get a Mold Kit when they visit.
Rumor has it that Zimmerman’s shop is infested with mold and some of the staff are actually purchasing their own mold kit to figure out what is making them sick.
