Say Goodbye to Hollywood..?

With the inevitable loss of its $155-million Mitsubishi Motors account on the horizon, BBDO Los Angeles seems to be in danger of closing up shop.
Once Mitsubishi leaves BBDO LA, there won’t be a heck of a lot left to do there. And staffers are already on the prowl for new gigs.
Considering the state of TBWA Chiat NY, the higher-ups at Omnicom must be using Maalox as a mixer for their evening nightcaps.

Where have all the agencies gone? Long time passing.
Man, I remember the day I stepped out with my book onto Wilshire Blvd and the Miracle Mile and the agencies stretched from downtown all the way to the sea– Chiat Day was at the Biltmore, then Dailey, Ketchum, Davis Ball Comlumbatto, Della Femina, Hakuhodo, Dentsu, D’arcy Masius Benton and Bowles, Y&R, Ogilvy & Mather, DDB, Needham Harper Steers, JWT, Grey, NW Ayer, Tracey Locke, Campbell Ewald, BBDO, BBDO-Slightly Further West, Matsumoto-Hertzog, Phillip Ramsey, Foote Cone and Belding, McCann Erickson, and others. Gone. For the most part. Sadly, I’ve worked for many those old places one time or another. Is LA becoming a ghost town? Dust the wind, or smog.
