Donny Deutsch Sounds Off On Race In America
March 26, 2008
Donny Deutsch sounded off on the LeBron James and Gisele controversial cover shoot for Vogue this morning on The Today Show. Donny shrugs his shoulders at the whole “gorilla thing,” because he is a self described “dumb white guy.” Meanwhile, Nancy Jiles keeps it a little more real being a Black women and all.
Why the Today Show didn’t bring on a Black man to talk about this instead of Donny? Well, there aren’t that man bigwig Black ad guys out there. So sad. Race relations in this country are still so messed up. Sigh.

There are several black marketing professionals who could have been better at speaking to this than Donny.
But the deal he has with NBC/CNBC keeps everyone — black, white or otherwise — off the Today show. It’s Donny Donny Donny.

The people who see King Kong in the image of a black athlete are the real racists. He is energy and power she is grace and beauty. Stop with the made-up controversy. Sure this is a racist country. But let’s point to real examples and not this “magazine publicity” crap.

Was my previous comment censored?

White people HATE to be labeled racist. Now we see the contradiction inherent in the system. My bad. I’ll stay in my place… boss.

Censored? I guess my views aren’t wanted here either.

Enlightened negro spoke some honesty and his comments were censored. I guess honest discourse is not permitted here. This one’s for you EN>
Those who see King King in the image of a black athlete are the true racists. He is energy and power, she beauty and grace. This is a racist country but let us focus on the real issues not this publicity generating crap.
I hope I got that close to right.
Peace

What’s the comment? I miss ALL the controversy…..

Donny seems to be accomplishing himself a return of J. Fred Muggs to the Today Show.

wow, i just don’t get the controversy here. people who see similarities to king kong are just plain messed up. this is a good shot of both of them. the only thing i’d fault it for is being a little too expected (aggressive shot of the athlete, smiling shot of the model). but offensive? i don’t see it.

What I find interesting is something Donny said during the interview. He called himself a “dumb White guy.” If Donny calls himself a dumb White guy it’s OK. But if I called him a dumb White guy some might accuse me of racism.

King Kong? Never. Mighty Joe Young, maybe……
