Roar. AKQA has opened its entry gates in their search for Future Lions. Check out their slick website and Sonic The Hedgehog-esque mascot to go with it, here. The online submission form doesn’t go live until April 1st, but don’t you want to be prepared? The task is to “shake up the advertising world literally redefining the medium and the message.” Easy peasy, no?

This is a student competition, so AKQA is NOT charging an entry fee. As clearly stated in the rules on the Future Lions website.

I like this idea very much, it will be interesting to see if the kids can deliver the goods, good on the agency for setting it up

“I like this idea very much…” Uh, yeah, I’m sure you do. Put together a “free” competition to “help out” struggling students translates into lets get 400 or so full campaigns for free to steal and use however the agency likes. And all they have to do is give away a plastic cartoon lion. Nice way to bump up the loser creative department. Do students really buy this shit today?

  4. Arthur Says:

Oh bit touchy aren’t we Joe, been sacked recently by any chance, or are you a student who was rubbish and can only get a job in some piddly agency doing work for Dave’s tyre shed?

I think this is a great oppurtunity for design students (being one myself). The only flaw is that it;s now the 7th of June and the winners still havn’t been announced. So when they are, it doesn’t leve much time for them to buy plane tickets to Cannes and get time of work!! Because yes, some students do actually have part-time jobs!!
