Digitas: Race To The Finish
February 25, 2008
Digitas sounds like so much fun. The New York office recently held a competition to see which of their staffers could get down 30 chicken McNuggets fastest. Teams were comprised of 2 people: 1 eater and 1 saucer. Oooh…. yum! That’s solves our daily, mind bending question about what to have for lunch.

I second the YouTube commenter — this is a lame Friday-at-5 attempt at building morale in a place fraught with frequent departures and rampant unhappiness. Forget McNuggets — try hiring some ACDs!!

Agreed. Are people really so easily lead with cheerleading, food, and foosball tables? Is this what professionals want? I sincerely and hopefully, doubt it. They want to have the opportunity to do great work, be supported with the right training and tools and get recognized when they achieve something great (or even good). But alas, this takes *management skills* and actually *interacting* with employees. You’d think AS would abhor this kind of frat house behavior lead by old white guys. But then, AS worships bullshit poser talk and old misogynist has-beens who say “fuck” a lot. So I guess, keep the McNuggets coming; it’s all you’ve got.

Agency fun *n* games are not a replacement for kickass opportunities. They are a way to get people to let down their hair. Too many agency people these days think and act like they’re working in an accountant’s office. Doesn’t make for good work in my opinion.
I’m not saying we should go back to the days of cocaine and sex on coffee tables but people should at least give themselves a chance to pull the giant stick out of their butts. pun not intended.

Easily the best work that’s come out of Digitas, ever.

I was a saucier. Pronounced SAUCE EH AY. For the record, this was not a company sponsored event. But rather two creatives who just felt like haveing a nug eating contest. We did the whole nomination, entry thing. Sent to these guys, gave them our $7 fee for the nugs and proceeded to trash talk via email our fellow contestants, many of whom we work w/ daily. This was just on the 10th floor. But like any ad agency where gossip reigns, other floors caught word and showed up to watch in envy. There’s competition around here between which floor is the coolest. It used to be 6 in my opinion. Our floor 10, made a good showing last Friday in proving that we’re “cool.” After the race, which only lasted 4 minutes and 21 seconds (winning time) we went back to work.
