Actually, I think there has been some flight from TV to online due to the strike. Chrysler, for example, hired an entirely different agency to get more into the online game. The ROI is better and more trackable. Clients have been underspending there for years.

Speaking of Ground Zero... I heard they're breaking some new work for ESPN Shorts this week. I only half know this because a friend of mine works there and mentioned something about it.

Anyone have any more info on this? There not on AdCritic yet.

In a movie theater? all ads suck, period. Whether the ads are funny or not, I don't want to sit through 'em. If I want to see cool ads, I either watch them on Firebrand.tv on the iON network or go to http://www.firebrand.com (or archaic you tube.) Screw ads on the big screen. If anything, they do a disservice to the brand because consumers resent them and take note.

steve l: nobody likes seeing crap commercials. that doesn't change between cinemas and tv, where you pay for access as well.

the benefit of movie screens is (a) that you are not bound to thirty seconds (b) that you have gigantic screen to work with and (c) that the audience is captive. people don't really go anywhere because they don't want to give up their seats.

there are examples of genuinly great ads run in movie theaters around. I am thinking of the old LA Times (.com) "gopher hole" fake-newscast that ground zero did in ... well, this must have been 2000 or 2001, I can't find it on youtube, or the very recent "newsbreaker" game out of SS+K, which superspy I think did link to.

but yes, yes, yes. crappy car ads in theaters suck. as they do on tv.
