Is It True? John McNeil Is No Longer At McCann?
January 25, 2008
WE HEAR THAT… John Mcneil is no longer the ECD over at McCann San Franciso. We love his work on the XBOX spots (see below). McNeil joined the SF shop from Ogilvy & Mather, New York, where he was senior partner and creative director.
We called, got dumped onto the longest hold time ever. We sent an email. And now, we’re waiting. By the way, the McCann SF website needs a total overall. It’s nonsensical.

I don’t think he had much to do with Xbox.

About time.
And he never touched the Xbox work. But the Vista “wow” was all his..

He was listed as ECD on the Xbox stuff, but of course, that may have nothing to do with his contribution level.

dont you usually just get listed as ECD because youre ECD of the shop? at my shop thats how it works, when stuff gets entered (or won) awards, the ECD gets credit even if he didnt have anything to do with it, other than say, “yeah looks good”…

McCann SF is about to get itself handed its ass by either Crispin or Fallon. Losing the new 300 million consumer pitch (handled poorly by Matt Ross and Rob Bagot, very poorly) has let the barbarians in the gate. This rocket’s gone as high and as fast as it can.
McNeil? He’s really a photographer anyway. Shot all the Office 2007 launch stuff himself. No loss.
