AdWeak Innovates
January 8, 2008
We got a press release with this as the opening sentence: “Adweek announces today a complete re-launch of its iconic brand…” Iconic. Already? Anyway, so, AdWeak is launching a whole new site. We’re all for people updating their brands. We just feel the need to point out that AdWeak is playing major catch-up here. A lot of what they are calling innovative is merely pulling from robust sites that at one point, we’re actually y’know – innovative. We’re here to give credit where credit is due.
Let’s see….
Their new digital content is a direct rip of Creativity Online and Brand Republic.
“Creative Database: with thousands of commercials, searchable by brand, product, date and agency. Users can also upload their own work, critique others’ work, and vote on the Best Spots of the Month. In addition, the site will offer peer forums, weekly video interviews with leading executives, and comprehensive agency profiles with user generated content and exclusive news.”
___________
Next up… Their new summit is a direct rip of the PSFK Conference, as well as the Idea Summit. The latter, yes focuses more on design, but with the exact same principle. Oh hey… and AdWeak’s is called the Inspiration Summit. How blatant.
“The Inspiration Summit: A one-day event that will feature visionaries from outside the industry to discuss external
influences on the advertising business and to show how inspiration can be drawn from unlikely sources.”
______________
Who else can they take from… Oh Campaign magazine!
“Print: the new Adweek magazine will deliver longer features, key insights, case studies and client strategy critiques and innovative ideas across all marketing disciplines.”
