JWT Atlanta Suffers

We hear that… JWT Atlanta is having some issues. Apparently, there has been a stream of folks heading out the door of ECD Carl Warner’s department this past month. Warner also shares the function of Co- President with General Manager, Tony Accurso. He got the post in March of 2006 and described himself at the time, as “laid-hypen-back.” Carl’s done some good work especially in his previous post as head of the Detroit office.

We also hear that… overall, the Atlanta shop has defecting account personnel, too. Why you ask? It seems that management doesn’t want to pay the cost of retaining valuable talent, nor has the budget to do so. Ah. Common problem. All that churn then causes morale to drop. Never fear. As the slightly nutty lady on the subway told us this morning, Mercury comes out of retrograde today. Cheer up! Good things are on the way!

Right now, JWT Atlanta has 11 employment listings up on their job site. Three have gone up this past month and only one is in the creative department. Perhaps they’re not looking to restock the shelves? JWT Atlanta did lose the $15.4 million Orkin account to Richards Group earlier in October. To bad the last entry on their blog was in June 2006 and just said “poop.” Maybe it could of enlightened us to what’s going on down there, though “poop” is a bit evocative of something, right?

Ps. Note that JWT NY has recently let some bodies go and that JWT UK fell to the number three spot in billings two weeks ago.
