Diesel’s New Viral Video
October 17, 2007
Diesel takes an old instructional video for disco and remixes it to suit their needs. See above. The original video is below. Nice work Diesel. Especially since the revival of the genre, which is now called Nu-Disco, is in full swing in cities across the world. DJs like NYC Jacques Renault have kept our butts shaking late into the night. Why anyone is worried about the brand taking something old and obviously remixing it is a mystery to us. The OG vid has been on YouTube for some time now. It’s been used by other artists and has been remixed by the YouTube audience several time. So, who cares if Diesel does the same? Taking a popular video and mashing it up is smart move if you ask us.

If you look closely you’ll see that Mr. Blomqvist (the dance instructor) is actually wearing Karhu sneakers in the original video, which gives the viral an interesting twist…

Ehh, it’s OK, really I am more saddened by the fact that the new Diesel shoes look like Sketchers the skaters wore at my high school in the late 90’s. That wasn’t THAT long ago. Diesel did the cool square-toed sneaker awhile back- this is the trend they start next? Regardless of whether the commercial is cool/funny, I can think of better things to spend $90+ on. BOOOO.
