Here is one of the new spots from Playtex and The Martin Agency kraftworks, ltd. that we mentioned yesterday. What do you think?

Um…wow. Yes, I’m a dude, but I’m not prurient in my take.

It seems good-natured and gutsy. Break down walls with humor…

But I’m pretty sure I’m not the target. Very curious to get women’s takes, feminists’ takes.

Howsabout you, SuperSpy. [It's really clear that you're female.] You opine on everything else.

this ad was not created by the martin agency, it was done by kraftworks, ltd.

and the barely there work is different from playtex, fyi. they are two different brands with two different ad agencies.

  3. redsuze Says:

OK, let’s see, how does this ad sell playtex bras?
Simply by showing a bunch of gals in bras that don’t specify the brand or style? Does anyone say, “I love my ‘gals’ in their Playtex bra.” Nope, not a one. Where’s the call to action here? It’s a somewhat feel nice commercial that does not drive sales and barely any brand awareness. I want to hear those gals tell me how comfy their “husband-pleasers” feel in Playtex bras for endowed women. Don’t tell me about their favorite “name” for their breasts. Let’s sell some bras and stop with the gimicky attempt to titalate (no pun intended).

Right on. In the spirit of Dove Evolution/Self Esteem, I guess we’ll start seeing more ads that show the curves of women beyond a size 4. Now if on the flipside we could stem the tide of those obese sitcom dads, we might start getting somewhere.

  5. Frymaster Says:

So, to keep score, there’s two dudes who swear they like the ads for their openness not the, um, boobs, and one chick that says the ads are intended to titillate.

    I feel so dirty…
