Back when I worked at Fallon I always thought that Bobby Appleby was the best creative there, though Buckhorn was good too.

I loved that agency and am sad about its fall. That happens sometimes, they wrong people come on board, the French take over and it all goes pear-shaped.

Appleby is still good though. Really good.

To Let's Be Honest:
Hansen and Sorenson are a team Fallon picked up from Carmichael Lynch about a year ago. I think their most awarded work is Porsche print.
And for what PaperSlipper says, it's true. A lot of agencies have sold their souls to the devil and really can't flourish as they once did. That is another reason Crispin remains one of the smartest agencies out there -- MDC only owns 49 percent; and the partners 51%.

Look, all this whining is just so boring and honestly wildly short-sighted. You need to get your heads out of the creative department's collective ass and really understand what makes an agency great: the total agency culture. Anyone who's anyone understands that Fallon stop being Fallon when it sold itself to the French. Once an agency stops charting its own course and surrenders to the quarterly earnings demands of a public entity the culture goes to pot, the work suffers, people leave and it's all down hill from there.

Of course the short stays are a result of the state of the agency. No one is arguing that and that doesn't say anything about the talent level of the people who stayed. Nice red herring, though.

I agree that the people left were very good. That's never been in dispute. What was in dispute was your claim:

"Anyone who was any good at Fallon has already left the place. Most of those left aren’t good enough to get jobs in decent agencies. "

Which we both know is completely false. And such a grand claim becomes even less credible when you make it clear that you don't even know who works there. Want to know more about them? Try google. Or award annuals. I'm not going to to the work for you.

Maybe the people that left are, as a whole, better than the people that are there. I don't know. That's pretty subjective. What's your criteria? Awards? Because it's pretty even, stacked side to side.

Clearly, everyone I named is at least good. And some are great. That they are working at an agency that's full of managment problems and fleeing clients does not change the fact that their talented.

Perhaps there's a connection between the short time (excluding Barrie) that talented and very hireable bunch were at Fallon and the state of the agency? I admit I don't know Hansen and Sorenson. That's why I asked you about them! Their names are not names I'm familiar with in connection with any famous work from anywhere so please tell me more. I admit Dean Buckhorn is an awesome talent that's wasted at Fallon now. The others I also know and feel able to comment. In fact some of those guys left are the best in the business (of rolling a ball up and down a pool table);-)

Of course Let's Be Honest is unfamiliar with the creative department.
He's been out of touch ever since he moved back to London.
How is London, Paul?
