Pepsi’s latest print ad from TBWA Sri Lanka features young orphans a la Oliver Twist with the tagline, “Ask For More.” This ad comes in the face of the FTC’s recent subpoenas to food/beverage brands regarding advertising standards for children. Seems like Pepsi is just asking for trouble and TBWA is sleeping on trends in advertising standards. The tagline has been bouncing around since 1999, but we’re still surprised to see it make a reappearance in 2007. “Ask For More” spawned the the tangential slogan, “Dare For More” with ad spots featuring Pink, Beyonce, J-Lo , Austin Powers, and Britney. See below for an example.

Generally speaking Pepsi’s ads are weak. They have a similar problem to the issues going on in advertising over at The Gap. They haven’t quite figured out that celebrity isn’t everything. The brand and BBDO also recently stole some creative for their Pepsi Max launch. Get it together kids.

Ps. We didn’t realize Pink had such an incredible voice!
