Lowe London Takes $20M

August 6, 2007

Beck’s beer has appointed advertising agency Lowe Worldwide to their £20-25 million account. Lowe is taking the place of Leo Burnett who won the £5m UK Beck’s brief in 2002 and Ground Zero (again, what an unfortunate name) who has been handling the global business for less than a year. Lowe beat out measly-mouthed McCann Erickson Germany for the account, while Ground Zero decided not to defend. Please enjoy the student Beck’s beer spot above, while we all wait to see what Lowe produces.

UPDATE: A commentator below rightly points out that InBev, the parent company of Becks’s, is “terribly complicated to deal with” and that that may be the reason Ground Zero did not defend.

don’t forget that while it is the beck’s brand the actual client is inbev and they’re terribly complicated to deal with. that is the reason gz didn’t defend.

I second that…from experience at a very short-lived agency that won part of the mktg business because of VP favoritism and then lost it to a different agency because of (a new) VP favoritism. Classy place.
