Doug Checkeris is the new CEO of WPP’s MediaCom USA, as of October 1. Not to surprising considering that Checkeris was CEO of MediaCom Canada. The announcement was made today by MediaCom Worldwide Chairman-CEO Alexander Schmidt-Vogel, who said Checkeris succeeds Dene Callas, who is moving into the newly created role of global Director of Creative for MediaCom Worldwide.

Schmidt-Vogel said of Checkeris: “He brings passion and excitement to everything he does, and is a consummate media professional. We are confident that Doug will bring our U.S. business to a new level of success.”

Checkeris has got a good tracking having helped Medicom become the largest and most successful media investment management company in the country. MediaCom Canada grew by more than $70 million in 2006.

Regarding the new role for Callas, Schmidt-Vogel said as Director of Creative she will be responsible for leading MediaCom’s creative approach to media communication throughout the world. Vogel says, “Dene is an amazing strategist, and extremely creative,” Schmidt-Vogel said. “Through her new role, we will push the limits on MediaCom’s creative capabilities throughout the world.” Congrats to both.
