Three Out Of Five
August 1, 2007
A recent survey by the CNW Group says that three out of five advertising and marketing executives plan to increase hiring levels over the next year for creatives.
The executives were also asked: “Which of the following recruiting tactics are you using more frequently than you did a year ago?” The top responses were placing want ads online (73 per cent); networking (69 per cent); and enlisting the help of staffing or recruiting firms (44 per cent). It’s good to see multiple channels being used to hunt down talent, but why aren’t hiring managers seeking out their creatives by just surfing the internet or getting their interns to do it? There are an overwhelming number of websites where digital artists and top creative talent can be found. From our own knowledge, we know that many of these people are dying to do gigs for advertising agencies to help pay their way while they create their “serious” art. Here’s an example of what can be found: Gal Shedi’s graduation project is totally off the wall and unique. Otherwise, if you’re looking for talent, here’s some resources:
Lounge72 - is a website where artist post their recent additions to their portfolios, as well as digital experiments
Core77 – one of the best and brightest design sites on the web
NOTCOT.org – is a community of creatives, design lovers, and trendsetters who post their favorites items and artists on this open access bulletin board
GFX Artist – a site for those serious about digital graphic arts
