“It ain’t easy to make money,
So now everybody wanna take money,
You ain’t a thug, matter fact you a fake money,
Fuck wit mines, I’m a view you at ya weight money,
It ain’t a game” – From 50 Cent’s “Make Money At Any Means”
Internet advertising company Traffix Inc. has pissed off Vitamin Water’s main man 50 Cent. The rapper claims the company illegally used his image in a flash game called (get ready for this) “Shoot The Rapper.” Players are invited to gun down a “50 Cent character” who walks back and forth across a small advertisement at the top of a web page. By clicking on the banner the player is then brought to a Traffix Inc.’s client’s site. Fiddy, aka Curtis Jackson, is suing for $1 million. Curtis’ lawyer Peter Raymond admits that the company does not use 50 Cent’s name, but “It looks like him, and there’s no doubt the character is intended to be him. He is personally offended.”
We think the whole scenario of the game is in very poor taste indeed. If you’re going to latch onto a celebrity without their permission, follow the example of MyNuMo’s Paris Hilton mobile game and stick your tongue firmly in your cheek. Sue ‘em Fiddy.
