Wieden + Kennedy, London is taking home $200 million and you know they probably deserve it. Looks as though the shop has been named as the agency for Visa’s World Cup sponsorship. Oh he-fing-llo…

If you recall, the sponsorship has been a bit of a mess to sort out after Mastercard and soccer’s governing body Fifa had a bit of a spat. Mastercard filed a suit to keep Visa from taking the sponsorship over. The brand wanted 90 million dollars in damages and return fees. So Mastercard – somethings do have a price.

Meanwhile, TBWA/Chiat Day continues to be Visa’s agency of record. Question is for how long? If W+K does some amazing creative on such a worldwide scale, they might be able to make a great case for taking over the entire account. That’s a huge “if.” In the mean time, congrats to Wieden. Swear to gawd – this agency is the next BIG THING. Watch out!

As of July 3rd, W+K also picked up the Nokia account.
