We’re addicted to YouTube and so found one of the new spots for Sprint’s new campaign, “Sprint Ahead.” Even though it reminds us of those Microsoft ads, it’s adorable. Artist Jamie Kivisto gets huge points from us as well.
And yet… what Sprint? You’re just going to drop that whole Nextel thing altogether? On July 1st, Sprint Nextel Corp. will officially unveil this new advertising and branding campaign, which focuses on how consumers and businesses are using and benefiting from the company’s technology now and in the future. The tagline and creative was sort of created by Omnicom’s Goodby, Silverstein & Partners. You see, Goodby’s just biting McCann who used the same freaking tagline in 1998.
Jeff Goodby says, “We’re revived it. It’s in a different kind of context. It was about telephone long-distance in those days, these days it’s about speed.”
Please. Please. Goodby. You are so much better than this. Well, wait… what were you saying at Cannes? Anyway, from The Washington Post:
New television commercials, online ads, billboards and movie theater ads will roll out Sunday at a critical time for the company. In addition to trying to improve the reputation of its network, Sprint is attempting to stave off competition from AT&T and Verizon Wireless, which have benefited from Sprint’s steady loss of customers.”
Sigh.
