AdScam, has been tracking the crazy freaked out developments at small Chicago agency Rivet with Woodward and Bernstein like diligence. In case you’ve missed it, the news from the windy city is that Rivet is headed for the dust bin just six months after being brought forth into this beautiful advertising world. In a post this morning, the Scammer quotes some serious speculations from today’s Chicago Sun Times:

“Rumors swirled this week about the fate of Rivet, an agency spun off from Draft FCB earlier this year to handle account conflicts that surfaced when Draft and Foote Cone & Belding merged last year. Chicago-based Lor Gold and Yvonne Furth exited Draft FCB to run Rivet. A call to Rivet’s main phone number on Wednesday produced a recorded message that didn’t include the firm’s name, but asked callers to leave a message. Furth did not return a phone call. Sources said Rivet was in the midst of moving to new office space, which may have caused the confusion. But sources close to developments also said Rivet did lay off 10 staffers in its New York office to put staffing in line with client needs, even as Rivet is said to be contemplating international expansion.”

Okay, so maybe you believe that. However, we’re going on record to say, “LIARS!” You know this shop is closing. Parent company Draft FCB has a nasty rep for poor management and Jonathan Sackett, who was appointed the Director of Digital Operations in May has already bounced. So what? Any employees of Rivet want to confirm or deny? We’re listening: AgencySpy AT mediabistro Dot com
